Amsterdam's De Mirandabad is expanding lighting.

The De Mirandabad in Amsterdam has been a good relationship of WaterVision for years. In addition to the recreational pool and the 25-metre competition pool, the subtropical wave pool is now also equipped with WaterVision underwater lighting. Not only does this bring extra atmosphere and cost savings, but it also increases safety.

Energy saving

Located in Amsterdam South, De Mirandabad falls under the municipality of Amsterdam. The municipality attaches great importance to the ambition for sustainability and reduction of energy consumption and has been working hard for a number of years to ensure that buildings such as this one match this ambition. In 2006 it was already decided to replace the inefficient and energy-consuming underwater halogen lighting in the recreation pool with energy-efficient NanoPower LED lamps from WaterVision. At the time, this resulted in a direct saving of 90% on energy costs

“It is still evident that that was a good choice at the time! The lamps are now 12 years old, but they still perform excellently.”

Facility Manager

Atmosphere in the wave pool

The De Mirandabad is mainly known for its subtropical wave pool. Recently, WaterVision installed NanoPower underwater lamps in the characteristic color ‘Mediterranean Blue’. This lighting is installed in the wave chamber and provides a great light effect on the waves. Due to the power of the most modern LED modules, the entire wave pool can be illuminated from the wave rooms to the ‘beach’ with only 5 lamps of 80W. Abdel Aknin, manager of Het Mirandabad says: “I did not notice the effect at first because of the amount of light that enters through the glass dome during the day. But when you turn off the light, you only see what you’re missing. The renewed NanoPower underwater lighting in the wave chamber clearly improves the visibility of the swimmers in the water, and thus safety.” To create extra atmosphere, the stairs to the slide are equipped with LED lighting from the CrystalColor series. These lamps provide an exciting play of colors on the spiral staircase.

"Due to the amount of light that enters through the glass dome during the day, I didn't notice the effect at first. But when you switch off the light, you only see what you're missing. Thanks to the renewed NanoPower underwater lighting in the wave chamber, the The visibility of the swimmers in the water has clearly improved, and with it safety.”

The 25 meter pool

The 25 meter competition pool is also equipped with both underwater and above water lighting from WaterVision. The lamps are coordinated in such a way that the amount of light that breaks from the water and the light that comes from above is in total harmony with each other. Functionally, this means that supervision becomes easier while maintaining a perfect atmosphere experience.

The Mirandabad

The De Mirandabad at Mirandalaan 9 in Amsterdam is a public swimming pool located in the South district. The property includes a competition pool, outdoor pool with paddling pool, wave pool, water slide and there are steam and hot tubs, sunbeds and squash courts.
