Embricana undergoes a metamorphosis

Just across the Dutch/German border is the town of Emmerich am Rhein, home to Embricana Freizeit- und Sport GmbH. This swimming and sauna accommodation contains an indoor competition pool of 25 meters with jumping tower, a recreation pool with whirlpool and caves and an outdoor pool with extra wide slide.

Substantial savings on (energy) costs

WaterVision has provided the entire accommodation with LED lighting, for both above and underwater. “The lighting gives you a good feeling immediately upon entering,” says Anke Kawohl – swimming pool manager Embricana. “And the spatial effect that this lighting produces is also unprecedented compared to the old situation,” continues Kawohl. The new LED lighting provides significant savings on energy (costs) and a nice subsidy was received from the government. In addition, the LED lighting creates a fantastic atmosphere in a friendly atmosphere. Below you can see the metamorphosis that the seating area has undergone.

Any desired effect

Under water, WV19 ColorWave underwater floodlights of 160 watts were used in the competition pool. These spotlights are placed behind a glass window and provide a beautifully illuminated swimming pool that can give the water any desired color thanks to the color changers. “The interplay with the overhead lighting makes the experience complete,” says Ms. Kawohl. “The light scenes can be precisely matched to the target group.” The CrystalColor5&7 above water LED spots have a power of 17 and 48 watts respectively and are finished in the color ‘Sunset Noon’, which ensures the right experience at any time of the day. At 12 noon (noon), the color of the light is the same as outside (5600K). Towards evening the light changes imperceptibly into the color of the setting sun. This lighting stays on all night, making the sense of time disappear.

The beautiful airbrushed wall drawing above the competition pool is illuminated with a specially composed light color that ensures that the different pigments of the wall drawing are accentuated. “By applying these color accents, it is as if the wall drawing jumps out of the wall,” says Kawohl enthusiastically.

The recreational pool is equipped with LED underwater floodlights behind the window of the type WV17. These are also equipped with color changers and equipped with 80 watts of power. On the ceiling, the large orbs (see below) have been replaced by CrystalColorLED spots that have been professionally mounted and concealed in the beamed ceiling. This gives the recreation area a serene appearance with a beautiful spatial effect.

The stairwell to the 86-metre slide and the slide collection tray are also equipped with color-changing CrystalColor LED spots. This gives the slide a playful effect. “The old slide now enjoys renewed appeal and appears to be a new attraction due to the metamorphosis,” says Mrs. Kawohl. A control panel has been installed in the lifeguard post with which the basic functions can be selected with clear buttons. The main function is automatic. The system then determines which light scenes are activated based on the time and day. If you choose white, that is the cleaning lighting. Scenes 1 to 3 are in this case programmed to turn the slide into a spectacle, for both young children (scene 1) and wild teenagers (scene 3). There is a scene for every target group. At the touch of a button, the atmosphere can be adjusted to the time of day, the time of year, the target group or the theme.
